Newport Beach, Calif. - The UCLA women's rowing team competed at the Newport Autumn Rowing Festival on Sunday, Nov. 2. The Bruin varsity eight finished seventh out of 23 collegiate entries in the Women's Open Eight.
The UCLA women's varsity eight completed the 2.7-mile course in 17:30.00 to place seventh overall in the Women's Open Eight. The Bruin varsity lineup was as follows: Jessica Rogers (stroke), Liz Pallas-Jacobs, Dawn Regan, Monica Grova, Kelsey Hicks, Shannon Packer, Kristin Bixel, Irene Condella, Megan Pangacian (cox).
The UCLA women's second varsity eight also competed in the Women's Open Eight competition and finished 13th overall in 18:02.00.
The Bruins captured the Women's Novice Eight competition by 14 seconds, completing the course in 17:25.00. Sacramento State 'A' (17:39.00) and Orange Coast 'A' (17:51.00) round up the top three among a field of 27 novice entries.
The UCLA women's rowing team returns to action on Mar. 13, 2004 for the Parent/Alumni Day and Class Race to open up the spring season. The Bruins are no longer scheduled to compete at the Head of Lake this Sunday, Nov. 9, in Seattle, Wash.
