Cyndi Gallagher's No. 7 Bruin swim team will return to dual meet action on Thursday, Jan. 5 as they play host to No. 14-ranked Purdue at 12:00 pm in Men's Gym Pool. This will be the first meeting between the two schools in a dual meet competition. Both teams will split into "blue" and "black" squads for the meet, with half of UCLA's swimmer competing with half of Purdue's swimmers.
"We will swim the traditional 16 order of events, but we thought it would be fun to have a different kind of format," said Gallagher. "We have had an incredibly intense and successful holiday training week, and they are looking forward to racing and having some fun". I expect there will be some fast times both from UCLA and from Purdue, in spite of how much training they have put in over the last few weeks."
The Bruins are returning to action after a solid first half of the season in which 10 athletes have qualified for the NCAA Championships (held in March in Athens, GA). Most recently, the Bruin swim and dive team is coming off of a successful BullDog Invitationl in Athens, GA.
