The UCLA women's golf team is in fifth place after 36-holes at the Arizona Wildcat Invitational, hosted by the University of Arizona at The Raven in Sabino Springs.
The Bruins completed the second round Tuesday morning and posted a team score of 301 for a 36-hole total of 597, fifth behind Tennessee at 596 and Arizona at 595. Top-ranked Duke leads the tournament at 589, 13-over par, followed by Auburn at 593.
Individually for UCLA, freshmen Yvonne Choe and Charlotte Mayorkas are tied for fourth place at 145, one-over par. Mayorkas posted a collegiate best score of 69, three-under par, and Choe carded a 74 after Monday's one-under par round of 71. Sophomore Melissa Martin is tied for 39th at 153 and classmate Gina Umeck is tied for 49th at 155. Junior Vivan Phosomran is tied for 53rd at 156.
Arizona's Lorena Ochoa, bidding to become the first collegiate golfer to win six consecutive tournaments, leads the field by seven shots at eight-under par 136 after posting a three-under par score of 69 in the second round. Tennessee's Tina Schneeberger is second at 143, one-under par, and Texas' Janice Olivencia is third at even par 144.
Final round action continues Tuesday.
