UCLA's Jillian Kraus, a sophomore driver from Tustin, California has been named MPSF Mikasa Player of the Week. This is the third 2006 Bruin MPSF Player of the Week honor, after junior Kelly Rulon was named Player of the week on two separate occasions.
Sophomore Jillian Kraus scored the game tying goal in UCLA's match on Saturday vs. No. 2 Stanford with 12.6 seconds left in the fourth quarter to force the game into overtime. The Bruins trailed in the fourth 7-6 after a goal by Stanford with 1:33 left. After numerous shots on goal in UCLA's last possession, Kraus picked up the ball and put it in the net with 12.6 seconds left. In overtime, the Bruins outscored the Cardinal and went on to a 9-8 victory.
In Friday's game against Pacific, Kraus had two goals. She also had two goals in the win over Stanford, giving her four goals for the week. Kraus is currently the second leading scorer for UCLA with 35 goals on the season.
The final Bruin game of the season is this Thursday at Long Beach State.
