LOS ANGELES - UCLA senior men's tennis player Luben Pampoulov won his semifinal singles match Saturday to advance to Sunday's championship at the 48th Southern California Intercollegiate Championships held at the Los Angeles Tennis Club.
Pampoulov, the tournament's No. 1 seed, defeated UC Irvine's Brian Morton, 7-6(4), 6-0. He will take on the winner of Pacific's Arnar Sigurdsson and Alabama's Luigi D'Agord in the final.
Also in action was the Bruins' top-seeded doubles team of Alberto Francis and Kris Kwinta. The duo won two matches Saturday, defeating Azuza Pacific's Davidson/Fletcher, 8-6 in the quarterfinals and BYU's Kaufhold/Ludlow, 9-7 in the semifinals. They will take on UC Irvine's Kashiwabara/Morton in Sunday's final.
