In UCLA's 63-21 rout over Rice, Olson completed 18 of 25 passes (.720) for 296 yards and three touchdowns (39, 10, 11 yards) with no interceptions. He left the game after one series in the third quarter. In the first half alone, he was 15 for 20 for 263 yards and three scores and led UCLA to six-straight scoring drives. The 296 yards rank third in his career and are the most for Olson in a victory. He had five completions of at least 20 yards and accounted for 302 yards of total offense. Olson moved into second place on UCLA's career list for pass completions (450) and fourth on the career list for total offense yards (5,260) and touchdown passes (36).
