Bruins Sign Highly-Rated Football Class

UCLA Recruiting Class Roster and Biographies

LOS ANGELES - Tight end Mike Seidman, linebacker Marcus Reese, quarterback J.P. Losman and offensive linemen Bryce Bohlander and Shane Lehmann highlight a list of 20 high school seniors who have signed letters-of-intent to attend UCLA.

"We are excited about this class of recruits," said head coach Bob Toledo. "It always takes a little time to see how these players will perform, but on paper, we feel we recruited quality players at every position. The offensive and defensive lines were priorities for us and we feel the young men in this class will help give us the needed quality depth we are looking for."

Bohlander, Lehmann, Losman, Reese and Seidman were all selected to the prestigious Parade Magazine All-America team. Seidman was a member of USA Today's All-America first team while Lehmann was selected to the second team. Bohlander and Lehmann were both named to RivalNet's 22-man All-America squad.

Bohlander, Losman, Reese and Seidman were named to SuperPrep's Top 50. Nine of UCLA's signees - Bohlander, running back Akil Harris, Lehmann, defensive tackle Rodney Leisle, Losman, cornerback Ricky Manning, wide receiver Jerry Owens, Reese and Seidman -- were named to SuperPrep's All-America team.

Six new Bruins - Bohlander, Lehmann, Losman, Owens, Reese and Seidman - were members of PrepStar's Dream Team. Bohlander, place kicker Nathan Fikse, Lehmann, Leisle, Losman, Manning, Reese and Seidman were members of PrepStar's Super 30 All-Western Region team. Fifteen of UCLA's signees - defensive ends David Ball and Matt Ball, Bohlander, athlete Kevin Brant, Fikse, Harris, Lehmann, Leisle, linebacker Dennis Link, Losman, Manning, cornerback DaShaun McCullough, Owens, Reese, Seidman and free safety Ryan Wikert -- earned All-America acclaim from PrepStar.

Five signees - Bohlander, Lehmann, Losman, Reese and Seidman -- ranked among the nation's Top 40 players as rated by RivalNet, and three more - Leisle, Manning and Owens -- ranked in the Top 100.

Tom Lemming's Top 100 for The Sporting News.com include eight Bruins-to-be: Bohlander, Lehmann, Leisle, Losman, Manning, Owens, Reese and Seidman. Six Bruins -- Bohlander, Lehmann, Losman, Owens, Reese and Seidman -- were named on Cornwell's National 100 while five more - D. Ball, M. Ball, Harris, Leisle and Manning - were named Cornwell All-Americans.

Bohlander, Lehmann, Losman, Owens, Reese and Seidman were named to the Top 100's of The Sporting News, ESPN.com, the Dallas Morning News and FANSonly.com.

Eight new Bruins - Bohlander, Harris, Lehmann, Losman, Manning, Owens, Reese and Seidman - were named to the Long Beach Press-Telegram's Best in the West first team while Link and defensive lineman Steve Sanchez were second-team selections. Bohlander, Lehmann, Losman, Reese and Seidman were first-team members of the Orange County Register's Fab 15 while Manning and Owens were named to the second team and Link was a third-team choice. Fourteen new Bruins - D. Ball, M. Ball, Bohlander, linebacker Asi Faoa, Fikse, Harris, Lehmann, Leisle, Link, Losman, Manning, Owens, Reese and Seidman -- were members of the Tacoma News Tribune's Western 100.

Fikse, Harris, Lehmann, Leisle, Manning, Owens, Reese and Seidman were all first-team All-State selections by Cal-Hi Sports while Losman was a second-team selection. Fikse, Lehmann, Link, Owens, Seidman and Wickert were named to the All-CIF Southern Section team while Harris was a second-team selection. Losman was selected L.A. City Section co-Player of the Year.
