Four members of the 2003 UCLA football team were selected during this weekend's National Football League draft and two other players have signed free agent contracts.
On Saturday, cornerback Matt Ware was the first Bruin selected going to the Philadelphia Eagles in the third round (89th selection).
On Sunday, linebacker Brandon Chillar, the Pac-10's leading tackler in 2003, was chosen in the fourth round (selection 130) by the St. Louis Rams. Defensive end Dave Ball, the ABC-Chevrolet National Defensive Player of the Year and the national co-leader in quarterback sacks (16.5), was chosen by the San Diego Chargers with the first pick of the fifth round (133 overall). Six picks later (No. 139), the New Orleans Saints selected defensive tackle Rodney Leisle.
Following the conclusion of the draft, defensive tackle Ryan Boschetti signed a free-agent contract with the Washington Redskins while defensive end Mat Ball signed a free-agent deal with the Jacksonville Jaguars.
