UCLA swimming head coach Cyndi Gallagher and head diving coach Tom Stebbins have announced the latest National Letter of Intent signees during the Fall signing period. Swimmers Jillian Ochs and Nicolette Teo and diver Heather Peng will join the Bruins as true freshmen next Fall.
Ochs, a dual sport athlete from Moraga, CA, attended Campolindo High School. She specializes in the breaststroke and has best times of 1:03 (100 Breast) and 2:22 (200 Breast). Ochs is a national qualifier who competes for Orinda Aquatics under coaches Don and Ron Heidary.
Teo, who hails from Mission Viejo, has already qualified for the 2004 Olympics, where she will represent Singapore. She competes for the Mission Viejo Nadadores and specializes in the breaststroke and individual medley. In the breaststroke, her best times are 1:11.0 (100 Breast) and 2:36 (200 Breast). Teo has swum a best of 2:22 in the 200m IM.
Peng attends Palo Alto High School and dives with the Stanford Diving Club. In 2003, she qualified for the Winter and Summer Junior Olympics. She is a former level 9 gymnast and is Palo Alto High's diving record holder.
The Bruins have already received letters of intent from swimmers Shannon Hackett and Erin Ketchum.
