The UCLA men's golf team finished eighth at the John A. Burns Invitational, hosted by the University of Hawaii at Leleihua Golf Course in Wahaiwa, HI.
The Bruins posted a team score of 293 Friday and finished with a 54-hole total of 879, 15-over par.
San Diego State won the event with a three-round total of 853, 11-under par. Auburn placed second at 862, two-under.
Individually, freshman John Poucher led the Bruins with a 54-hole total of 217, one-over par, and finished in a tie for 18th place. Senior Parker McLachlin and sophomore Steve Conway tied for 26th at 219, followed by freshman Breene Murphy, who tied for 52nd at 225. Sophomore John Merrick tied for 70th at 229.
San Diego State's John Lieber won the event with a 54-hole score of 207, nine-under par. Hawaii's Matt Kodama and Cal's Scott Carlyle tied for second at seven-under par 209.
The Bruins' next event will be the Cleveland Golf Classic at North Ranch Country Club, Mar. 4-5, to be hosted by USC.
