Men's Basketball NCAA Ticket Information
Courtesy: UCLA Athletics
Release:  03/08/2000

LOS ANGELES - We are pleased that both our Men's and Women's Basketball Teams may be participating in the upcoming 2000 NCAA Basketball Tournament. The information below is designed to assist you in requesting tickets to either or both of the tournaments. PLEASE READ THIS INFORMATION CAREFULLY SO YOU DO NOT JEOPARDIZE YOUR OPPORTUNITY TO PURCHASE TICKETS.

In that there is a significant amount of information contained herein, I want to emphasize a few of the most important points:

  • The availability of NCAA Tournament tickets is extremely limited (particularly for the Men's Tournament). The opportunity to purchase seats for the Men's Tournament is limited to UCLA Basketball Season Ticket Holders and there will be a limit of two tickets per account.

  • Tickets will NOT be mailed. ALL tickets must be picked up at the tournament site in person by the season ticket holder. Photo I.D. will be required.

  • Available tickets will be allocated based upon the established UCLA Athletic Priority Seating Policy.

I know you join me in congratulating our teams for their successful seasons and wishing them good luck in the Tournament. Thank you for your support.

    Rick Purdy
    Associate Athletic Director

    1. Tickets for all sites are extremely limited. Available tickets will be allocated based upon the established UCLA Priority Seating Policy.

    2. NCAA Basketball Tournament seating location is assigned by the NCAA. As in the past, the vast majority of the seats we receive will be in the upper level of the arena. Please understand that the seats you receive will likely be in this area. Specific location will be determined by the donor level of the applicant.

    3. Depending on availability, each UCLA basketball season ticket holder account will be allowed to request NO MORE than TWO (2) tickets to each of the games at each tournament site.

    4. Tickets will NOT be mailed. ALL tickets MUST be picked-up IN PERSON at will-call at the site of the tournament by the SEASON TICKET HOLDER OF RECORD. There will be NO EXCEPTIONS to this policy. Please DO NOT request seats if you personally do not plan on using those seats as only you will be able to pick them up at will-call. Photo ID will be required. This policy allows the greatest number of our season ticket holders to attend the Tournament in person, rather than other fans who are not season ticket holders.

    5. The NCAA will announce the Tournament pairings on Sunday afternoon, March 12. We will not have any information on where or when UCLA will be playing until after the pairings are announced.

    FIRST AND SECOND ROUNDS

If UCLA is seeded in the WEST Region, then the team will be playing in either Salt Lake City, UT or Tucson, AZ on Thursday, March 16 and Saturday, March 18:

    6. The mandatory allocation of tickets by the NCAA to each of the First and Second Round participants is 350 tickets. Out of that allocation, we expect only about 100 tickets to be available to our highest level support group members since we are required to provide tickets to our team, coaches, students, and band.

    7. Members of Coaches Roundtable and Athletic Endowed Scholarship Donors may call the UCLA Central Ticket Office (310) 825-2101 on Sunday, March 12 between 6:00 PM and 9:00 PM for ticket availability. Ticket requests will be accepted during this three hour period. If demand exceeds supply, a lottery will be held after 9 PM to determine winners. Lottery winners will be notified later that same evening via telephone. In addition, as of the writing of this letter, both West Regional sites still have tickets available on a very limited basis. You may find it to your advantage to call the University of Utah Ticket Office at (801) 581-8849 or the University of Arizona Ticket Office at (520) 621-2287 to purchase tickets DIRECTLY FROM THEIR TICKET OFFICE for games to be played at the respective site.

    8. ALL OTHER UCLA Basketball season ticket seat holders: Since the number of tickets we receive is EXTREMELY limited, we expect to be able to accommodate only members of the highest level support groups. You may call the UCLA Central Ticket Office (310) 825-2101 beginning at 9:00 AM on Monday, March 13 for ticket availability.
