April 15, 2005

The 14th-ranked UCLA men's golf team travels to the Bay Area this weekend to compete in the annual U.S. Intercollegiate, hosted by Stanford at the Stanford Golf Course in Palo Alto. Stanford GC will play to a par of 71 over 6,786 yards.

Saturday will feature 36 holes followed by a final round on Sun., Apr. 17.

The Bruins are defending champions after posting a 54-hole score of even par 840 last year.

UCLA enters this event with two victories by the Gold Team, which features the team's top five qualifiers. In their last event, the Gold Team captured 5th place at the ASU Thunderbird Invitational.

Earlier this month, UCLA freshman Daniel Im was named the Player of the Month for March by the Pacific-10 Conference. Last month, Im won the Southern Highlands Intercollegiate in Las Vegas, and finished second at the Western Intercollegiate hosted by San Jose State.

Head Coach O. D. Vincent has guided the Bruins to 18 tournament victories, including a conference championship and a pair of NCAA Regional titles in his two-plus years.
