Varsity Eight Stuns Beavers

Redwood Shores, Calif. - The UCLA women's rowing team competed against Oregon State at the Stanford Invitational, capturing the Varsity Eight event. The Bruin varsity eight finished 5-seconds ahead of the Beavers to defeat Oregon State in their first ever dual-meet matchup.

The UCLA varsity eight finished the 2000m course in 7:34.32; Oregon State followed in 7:39.72. With the victory, the Bruins improved their varsity eight dual-meet record to 4-1 this season.

Rowing in the UCLA varsity eight was Jessica Rogers (stroke), Liz Pallas-Jacobs, Jessica Fritz, Monica Grova, Dawn Regan, Lexi Harmon, Kristin Bixel, Irene Condella, Emina Ong (cox).

The Bruins also raced a second varsity eight, varsity four, and novice eight boat against the Beavers, but Oregon State claimed all three contests.

UCLA returns to action next Saturday, April 24, as they host the 29th Annual Miller Cup Regatta.
