UCLA head coach Bob Toledo:

"We came out in the first half strong, but the penalties hurt our momentum. The players did a good job of fighting through."

"We are now bowl-eligible. That was our goal tonight."

"Defensively, we did a good job again. Our coaching staff did a great job in getting the team ready for this game."

(On the Cal defense): "They were packing the paint. They had 8-9 guys in the box. Sometimes when you do that, you stop some of those short runs, but you can crack it and make some long runs. But otherwise, you pass the ball."

"We were ready to play, they (Cal) made some good plays. They're a good team with good players, they're just struggling."

"This was Cory's best game of the year. He threw some really good balls in difficult situations. He's been very accurate and is doing a great job at orchestrating the offense."

"When you take a running back like DeShaun Foster and limit him to 124 yards, you're going to pay in the passing game, and they paid dearly."

California head coach Tom Holmoe:

"Our game plan was to control DeShaun Foster. We got some nice runs and some great passes (in the first half). Our only way to beat UCLA was to hit DeShaun first. We wore him down in the first half, but he just kept coming back. He is the best back in the country."

"In the first half, we went at them physically. We knew we could not out-finesse them. Basically in the second half, their skill level took over. We wanted to hit the quarterback (in the first half)."

"From our perspective, we were right there. They made a big play (Foster touchdown catch in the second quarter), and that was the turning point of the game."

"In the first half, our defense swarmed and slowed down the run. If we could have used that same intensity in the second half, we could have had better results."

"They wore us down. They made some nice plays, nice catches, nice throws, and that changed the complexity of the game."

"We have a lot to gain. We were battling for our overall attitude. We were not playing to keep it close, we wanted to outright win this game."
