Three-time Pac-10 champion UCLA has earned the No. 1 seed in next week's NCAA West Regional.
The Bruins, No. 2 nationally in the Golfweek/Sagarin College rankings, lead the field that will be playing on May 11 - 13 at the Washington National Golf Club in Auburn, WA. The tournament is being hosted by the University of Washington.
UCLA, which placed second in the nation last year after winning the 2004 NCAA title, is one of four Top 10 teams in the West Regional. The other Top 10 squads are second seed Georgia (No. 5), third seed Purdue (No. 8) and fourth seed Arkansas (No. 10).
No. 1 Duke is the top seed in the Central Regional (The Traditions at Texas A&M in College Station, TX). Also in the Central Regional is No. 6 USC and No. 7 Pepperdine. The top seeds in the Eastern Regional (Bryan Park, NC) are No. 3 Arizona State, No. 4 Auburn and No. 9 Tennessee.
The eight top teams and two top individuals from each of the three regionals advance to the championship finals. Ohio State is hosting the championship on May 23-26 at the Scarlet Course in Columbus, OH.
