The 11th ranked UCLA men's golf team took aim at its first conference title since 1985 by taking a six-shot lead at the halfway point in the Pac-10 Men's Golf Championships at Oakmont Country Club in Glendale.

The Bruins posted rounds of 364-362-726, six-over par and seven shots ahead of second place Stanford. Washington is third at 737, followed by fourth place Arizona at 740 and fifth place Arizona State. In sixth place is Oregon with a score of 754, followed by Oregon State at 756. California is eighth at 762, followed by USC at 768 and Washington State at 771.

Individually for UCLA, junior Roy Moon is tied for third at 143, one-under par. John Merrick is tied for seventh at even par 144 and Travis Johnson is tied for ninth at 145, one-over par. Junior Steve Conway is in 11th place at 146 and sophomore John Poucher is tied for 17th place at 148. Freshman Spencer Levin is tied for 46th place at 157.

Oregon State's Cameron MacKenzie owns the 36-hole lead at four-under par 140 after posting rounds of 69-71. Defending conference champion Jim Seki is second at 141. Arizona State's Alejandro Canizares and Brady Stockton, Washington's Brock Mackenzie and Moon are tied for third at 143.

Third round action continues Wednesday.
