Women's Basketball Defeats Sutherland Sharks, 87-57

The UCLA women's basketball team opened up its Australia trip with an 87-57 victory over the Sutherland Sharks on Saturday, June 25. Noelle Quinn and Lisa Willis scored 22 points each to lead the Bruins, and Consuelo Lezcano added 14 off the bench.

UCLA opened up a 20-9 first quarter lead, thanks to five points each from Quinn and Lindsey Pluimer. Quinn led the Bruins again in the second quarter with eight points, and Willis added six points in the quarter to give UCLA a 42-30 halftime advantage.

The Bruins went on an 11-2 run to start the third quarter, taking complete control of the game with a 53-32 lead. Willis and Lezcano led the Bruins in the second half, scoring 12 points apiece.

Also scoring for the Bruins were Pluimer with nine points, Nikki Blue with eight points, Ortal Oren with seven, Shaina Zaidi with three, and Lauren Pedersen with two points.

UCLA will next play the Australian Junior National Team on Monday, June 27.
