CHICAGO - The No. 2-ranked UCLA men's tennis team bounced back strong after being upset a day earlier at the USTA/ITA National Team Indoors, posting a 4-1 decision over No. 3 Florida Saturday in a consolation match at the Mid-Town Tennis Club. The Bruins, who were knocked out of the main draw following a 4-2 loss to No. 9 Virginia on Friday, improve to 10-1 on the season. Florida drops to 5-3 overall with the loss.

The Bruins, who lost the doubles point for only the second time this season, turned in four dominating performances in singles play, all straight-set victories. First to finish was court No. 5, where 99th-ranked Kris Kwinta lost just two games en route to a 6-1, 6-1 victory over 46th-ranked Nestor Briceno. Kwinta was the only Bruin player to win all three of his singles matches at the Indoors.

Senior Luben Pampoulov, who sat out Friday's loss to Virginia due to injury, returned to action on Saturday, downing Hamid Mirzadeh, 7-5, 6-1 at the No. 1 position. Next door on court No. 2, eighth-ranked Benjamin Kohlloeffel posted a 7-5, 6-2 win over 64th-ranked Vladimir Obradovic.

Senior Alberto Francis, ranked No. 39 nationally, clinched the match for UCLA at court No. 4, defeating No. 85 Chris Brandi, 7-6(4), 6-3. Two other matches were still in action when play was suspended, as Chris Lam (court No. 3) and Jeremy Drean (court No. 6) were both down a set in their matches with Greg Oullette and Ryan Sherry.

The Bruins and Gators have played eight times since 1998, with UCLA owning a 7-1 advantage. UCLA leads the all-time series 9-1.

The Bruins return home next week to host No. 7 Stanford on Friday at 1:30 p.m. and No. 32 California on Saturday at 1:00 p.m.
