Los Angeles - UCLA women's soccer player Nandi Pryce was recently selected as one of 11 players in the country named to Soccer America's Preseason All-America Team.
Pryce, a junior defender out of Casselberry, Fla., was a second-team All-Pac-10 selection in 2001 while leading the Bruins to the quarterfinals of the NCAA Tournament. She anchored a Bruin defense that ranked No. 1 in the Pac-10 in shutouts (13) and No. 2 in goals allowed (14) last season.
Most recently, Pryce was named one of just two college players selected by U.S. National Team coach April Heinrichs to participate in a four day camp next month in Columbus, Ohio in preparation for a match with Scotland on Sept. 8. Also, as a member of the Under-21 Team, Pryce helped the U.S. earn its fourth consecutive Nordic Cup title in Turku, Finland this past July.
In addition to her selection by Soccer America, Pryce was also named a preseason All-American by Soccer Buzz Magazine.
The Bruins open up the 2002 season at home this Friday, Aug. 30 against San Diego at 2:00 p.m.
