The seventh-ranked UCLA women's golf team begins the 2006-07 season at the Mason Rudolph Championship, hosted by Vanderbilt University, Sept. 15-17, at the Legends Club in Franklin, TN.

Vanderbilt's Legend's Club will play to a par of 72 over 6,217 yards. Thirteen of the 15 teams ranked in the preseason Top 25 by GolfWorld will be competing in the 54-hole tournament.

Top-ranked and two-time defending NCAA champion Duke highlights the field along with third-ranked Georgia and fifth-ranked Purdue.

"We are looking forward to a new season and a fresh start this week at the Mason Rudolph Championship," said Head Coach Carrie Forsyth, who enters her eighth season. "Our team is excited to start competing and see how it will perform with the new lineup. With two freshmen two sophomores, and one senior, we are young, but quite talented."

The Bruins will field a team of just three returning lettermen with more than 20 rounds of experience. Two other players, red-shirt junior Brianna Loyear and true junior Maiya Tanaka comprise the remainder of the roster.

Senior All-American Hannah Jun begins her final season ranked sixth nationally after earning co-medalist honors at the U.S. Women's Amateur Publinks Championship in June. Jun, whose career scoring average is 74.5, has won two collegiate titles, including the 2004 NCAA West Regional Championship as a freshman. Last year she won the UNLV tournament with a 10-under par score of 206.

Sophomore Tiffany Joh also earned All-America honors last season and led the Bruins with a scoring average of 73.1. Over the summer, she became just the second UCLA player to win the USWAPL title. She also tied for second at the U.S. Women's Amateur before bowing out in the second round of match play. Joh enters the season ranked fifth.

Freshman Sydnee Michaels advanced to the quarterfinals of the U.S. Women's Amateur after tying for 47th place in stroke play. Last April, she made the cut at the Kraft Nabisco LPGA event and tied for 68th playing as an amateur. She starts the season ranked 47th among U.S. amateurs and was projected as a second-team All-American by GolfWeek.

Sophomore Ryann O'Toole earned a varsity letter last season after playing in seven events and recording one Top 20 finish. She qualified for both the USWAPL and U.S. Women's Amateur, but missed the cut at both events. In 22 rounds last season, she averaged 77.8.

Freshman Lalita Boonnoppornkul completes the lineup for the Bruins. A 2006 graduate of North Hollywood High, she finished among the Top 10 at the L.A. City HS Championships three straight years and tied for first in Sunset League Championship twice.
