Los Angeles - UCLA women's soccer player Bethany Bogart was named one of 11 players on the Verizon Academic All-District VIII Team announced Thursday. She is now eligible to be named to the Verizon Academic All-American Women's Soccer Team, which will be announced on Feb. 7.
Bogart, a defender from San Diego, Calif., played in all 23 matches for the No. 5 Bruins in 2001, finishing the season with two points on two assists. More importantly, she anchored a Bruin defense that ranked No. 1 in the Pac-10 and seventh nationally in goals against average (0.59). In Bogart's four years at UCLA, the Bruins posted a 71-16-3 overall record and she was named to the Director's Honor Roll nine times. She was twice named an All-Pac-10 Academic Honorable Mention selection.
Bogart is majoring in communications studies.
