UCLA (27-23) hit three home runs and held Cal State Fullerton (30-20) to four hits as the Bruins defeated the Titans, 8-2 on Tuesday evening. UCLA swept the season series against the Titans for the first time since 1991.

The Bruins took an early 1-0 lead when sophomore catcher Chris Denove hit a solo home run in the third inning. It was Denove's sixth on the season.

The Titans would rally to score one run in the fifth and one run in the sixth inning to post a 2-1 lead heading into the bottom of the sixth.

After one out in the bottom of the sixth, Ryan McCarthy would head to second base on a throwing error by Ronnie Prettyman. Wes Whisler drove McCarthy in with a single up the middle to even the score at 2-2. Brandon Averill would then clear the bases with a two run home to give UCLA a 4-2 advantage. Averill's round tripper was his sixth of the year.

In the seventh, Whisler would drive in two more runs with another hard hit single up the middle. Matth Thayer, who had walked, and McCarthy, who had doubled, both scored on the hit.

The Titans would threaten in the eighth inning as the first two batters reached base. However, Daniel Reid would strikeout Prettyman before Kyle Wilson struck out Kurt Suzuki and Danny Dorn to get UCLA out of the inning.

The Bruins added two more runs in the bottom of the eighth when Jarrad Page hit a two-run homer. Page had entered the game as a defensive replacement an inning earlier. He drove in Denove who reached on a fielder's choice.

Wilson would strikeout the side in the ninth to post his second save of 2004.

Starter Daniel Miltenberger improved to 3-0 on the year as he threw a career-high six innings. He held the Titans to two runs on two hits in the first six frames.

The Bruins will return to Pac-10 play this weekend as they host Washington State in a three-game series. It will be the Bruins final home series of the year. Friday night's game is set for 6:00 p.m.
