Chris Staton Places Second at Claremont Classic Decathlon

Last Friday and Saturday, May 14-15, senior decathlete Chris Staton competed at the Claremont Classic Decathlon at Burns Track & Field Complex in Claremont, CA. Staton finished second overall with a personal best score of 7,313 points.

Staton scored 3,783 points in the first day and had personal bests in the 100m (11.15) and high jump (6-8.25, 2.04m). On the second day of competition, Staton scored a personal best 3,530 points and threw a personal best 184-6 (56.23m) in the javelin.

Day 1 (3,783 points)
100m - 11.15 (w: 2.4, 827 points); Long Jump - 22-6.50 (6.87m, 783 points); Shot Put - 41-1 (12.52m, 638 points); High Jump - 6-8.25 (2.04m, 840 points); 400m - 52.69 (695 points)

Day 2 (3,530 points)
110mH - 14.80 (w: 0.8, 874 points); Discus - 137-3 (41.83m, 702 points); Pole Vault - 14-1.25 (4.30m, 702 points); Javelin - 184-6 (56.23m, 681 points); 1500m - 4:57.97 (571 points).
