UCLA junior driver Kelly Rulon is the MPSF's first Mikasa Player of the Week for the 2006 season. Rulon helped lead the Bruins to three wins in three days this past week. In the games, Rulon scored a total of 10 goals. Against Cal State Bakersfield, the first Bruin game of the season, Rulon had five goals, all in the first half. Later that same day, she had two goals versus Cal State Northridge. On Sunday, Rulon led UCLA with three goals to help the team defeat UCSB. She is currently the leading scorer for UCLA with 10 goals.
During the Bruins' undefeated season of 2005, Rulon was the MPSF Co-Player of the Year, a first team AWPCA All-American, a first team All-MPSF member, and first team All-NCAA and All-MPSF tournaments. She led the Bruins in scoring, assists, and steals. Her mark of 70 goals in 2005 is second all-time in UCLA single-season scoring.
With Rulon's help, the Bruins are currently undefeated with a 3-0 overall record. This weekend, UCLA will head to Palo Alto for the Stanford Invitational where six of the top eight teams in the country will be competing.
