SEVILLE, Spain - On Monday at the World Track and Field Championships held in Seville, Spain, UCLA senior Seilala Sua placed sixth in the women's discus, with a throw of 209-1. The winner was Franka Dietzsch (Germany), with a throw of 223-7.
Sua's sixth-place finish was the highest ever in the World Championship discus throw for an American woman. This was also the first time ever an American woman has advanced to the final and Sua was the youngest (21)among the final eight.
From from Cooper City, FL, Sua is the two-time defending USA discus champion and the three-time defending NCAA discus champ. Her personal-best is 212-10.
