UCLA (19-24) could not complete the sweep of fourth-ranked Arizona State (39-9), falling 17-1 on Saturday afternoon at Packard Stadium.
The Sun Devils posted eight runs in the first three innings to build a 8-0 lead the Bruins could not overcome. The offensive explosion was highlighted by a three-run home run from Andre Either in the first inning.
The Bruin got on the board in the sixth frame with a solo homer from Preston Griffin. The round-tripper was the second baseman's eighth of the year to give him the team lead.
A grand slam from Jeff Larish in the bottom of the eighth inning sealed the win for ASU.
Freshman Brett McMillan extended his hitting streak to nine games, which is the longest streak by a Bruin this season.
UCLA will return to Jackie Robinson Stadium on Tuesday night, when it hosts second-ranked Cal State Fullerton in a 6:00 p.m. match-up.
