Minneapolis, Minn. - UCLA scored 197+ for the second consecutive meet, defeating Minnesota on the road, 197.55-195.325. The Bruins were buoyed by back-to-back perfect 10s on vault by sophomore Kate Richardson and senior Jeanette Antolin and scored a meet-high 49.5 on that event.

Richardson won the all-around with a score of 39.75 and placed first on every event. She tied with Antolin for first-place honors on vault and bars (9.9), claimed top honors on beam with a 9.95 and tied for first on floor with Minnesota's Alicia Opsahl with a 9.9. Antolin was second in the all-around with a 39.6.

UCLA took the lead after rotation one and never relinquished it, scoring 49.325 on the uneven bars. Freshman Ashley Peckett started the meet with a collegiate-best 9.75, and classmate Lori Winn added a 9.825. Seniors Kristen Maloney and Yvonne Tousek followed with a pair of 9.85s, and Richardson and Antolin closed with winning scores of 9.9. Minnesota, meanwhile, totaled 48.675 on vault.

In rotation two, the Bruins set a season-high with a 49.5 on vault, the fifth-highest team score in school history, and added a full point to their lead. Vaulting for the first time this season, junior Christie Tedmon hit a career-high 9.725 in the leadoff position. Winn and Peckett followed with scores of 9.75 and 9.825, respectively. Maloney scored a career-best 9.925, and Richardson and Antolin found perfection on their Yurchenko layout full vaults. For Richardson it was her first career perfect 10 on vault. Antolin's 10.0 was her second in three meets this year and her fifth career 10 on vault.

The Bruins kept up the pace on floor exercise, with senior Jamie Williams starting the set with a season-high tying 9.775. Winn contributed a 9.825, followed by three 9.85s from Peckett, Tousek and Antolin and a meet-high tying 9.9 from Richardson.

UCLA, ranked first in the nation on beam, proved why, scoring a 49.45. Williams and Antolin scored 9.85s, Maloney and Tousek 9.9s and Richardson a 9.95.

"It's nice to go on the road and hit in back-to-back meets," said UCLA head coach Valorie Kondos Field.
