Bruins Kick Off Pac-10 Action Against Top-Ranked Stanford:
UCLA will start its conference slate this weekend when the Cardinal come to Jackie Robinson Stadium. Stanford currently sits atop all the three of the major polls with a 21-3 mark on the season.
Two of the Pac-10's premier pitchers will face off on Friday night when UCLA's Casey Janssen and Stanford's Mark Romanczuk take the mound. Every game of the three-game series can be heard on www.UCLABruins.com.
Bruins Fall At San Diego State, 5-1:
In a game that was added to the schedule, UCLA fell 5-1 to San Diego State.
The Bruins posted six hits in the contest, including triples from Anthony Norman and Matt Thayer. Norman's triple would bring Jarrad Page around to score in the top of the ninth to break up the Aztec shutout.
UCLA Posts First Win at Dedeaux Field Since 1999:
The Bruins claimed their first win at USC in 11 games when they defeated the Trojans,13-7, in the final game of the three-game non-conference series.
After droping the first two games of the series, UCLA exploded for 13 hits and 13 runs on Sunday to take the win. Mike Svetlic drove in a career-high five runs, while Matt Thayer went 3-for-6 to lead the way for UCLA.
Freshman reliever Brian Schroeder picke dup his second save of the season as he forced Jeff Clement to ground into a double play to end a bases loaded threat in the seventh frame. Schroeder finished the game for UCLA, throwing 2.2 innings of scoreless ball.
Janssen, who is 5-1 on the season, currently paces the Pac-10 by holding opponents to a .160 batting average. His 2.35 ERA is second in the conference, while his 52 strikeouts rank fourth.
Beck has also climbed into the Pac-10 stats with a 2.12 ERA that ranks third. He is also holding opponents to a fifth-best .217 batting average. The 6-6 right hander also posted a complete game shutout against Hawaii-Hilo earlier this season.

The top-ranked Cardinal head to Southern California on a six-game winning streak after sweeping Cal Poly over the weekend. A 2003 College World Series Participant, Stanford will also be opening its Pac-10 schedule in Westwood.
Head Coach Mark Marquess is in his 28th year at the helm of the program. He has posted a 1,165-554-5 mark at Stanford. Last season, UCLA claimed one win in Stanford, as two games went into extra innings
