The fourth-ranked UCLA men's golf team tied for second place at the Cleveland/Augusta State Invitational held at Forest Hills Golf Club in Augusta, GA.
The Bruins ballooned in the final round with a team score of 299, 11-over par, and finished with a 54-hole total of 866, two-over par. Minnesota captured first place at three-under 861. The Bruins tied with Duke. Host Augusta State placed fourth at 871, followed by Geogria at 874.
Individually for the Bruins, senior Steve Conway fired a one-under par 71 in the final round to finish fourth at 209, seven-under par. Senior Travis Johnson finished seventh at three-under par 213 after posting a 74. Senior John Merrick tied for 43rd at 223 (+7), followed by junior John Poucher who tied for 45th at 224 (+8). Senior Roy Moon tied for 73rd at 229 (+13).
Clemson's Matt Hendrix tied for first place at 207 (-9) after posting a final round 67. Bill Haas of Wade Forest finished third, one stroke back of the leaders after signing for a two-under par 70.
