Bruins Dominate MPSF Pacific Division Men's Soccer Team

The UCLA men's soccer team, which plays for a berth in the 1999 College Cup on Saturday against Virginia, dominated the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation's Pacific Division all-league team.

Ten Bruins, led by Pacific Division Player of the Year Sasha Victorine, were selected either first or second team by the league's head coaches. In addition, first-year head coach Todd Salda?a was selected Pacific Division co-Coach of the Year along with UCSB's Tim Vom Steeg.

Victorine, a senior midfielder who is one of five finalists for the Hermann Award, which is presented to the nation's top collegiate player, was one of six Bruins named to the first team.

UCLA's other first-team selections were senior midfielder Pete Vagenas, senior defender Steve Shak, junior defender Carlos Bocanegra, junior midfielder Shaun Tsakiris and junior goalkeeper Nick Rimando.

Four Bruins were named to the Pacific Division second team, including senior forwards Martin Bruno and Shea Travis, junior forward McKinley Tennyson, Jr. and junior defender Ryan Lee.
