Bruin Results After Second Day of NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships

After the second day of competition at the NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships in Austin, TX, the Bruins remain in 21st place. Auburn continues to hold onto first place with a total of 337 points.

On Friday, the Bruins competed in the 200 Medley Relay, 400 IM, 100 Fly, 200 Free, 100 Breast, 800 Free Relay and three-meter diving. In the 200 Medley Relay, the team of LeAnne Cadag, Elvira Fischer, Katie Younglove and Sara Platzer placed 14th (1:42.57) and earned All-America honors. In the 400 IM, Cathy Coler placed 34th in the preliminaries in 4:23.26. In the prelims of the 100 Fly, Younglove was 20th (54.45) and Kristen Lewis was 29th (54.78).

In the 200 Free, Malin Svahnstrom placed 11th (1:47.16) in the prelims and advanced to the finals, where she placed 12th (1:47.34). Also in the 200 Free prelims, Jackie Lobdell placed 50th (1:51.11). In the 100 Breast prelims, Fischer tied for 10th (1:01.44) with Arizona's Jessica Wagner, Leslie Hovsepian tied for 22nd (1:02.82) with Arizona's Jessamyn Miller and Jen Noddle was 27th (1:02.98). In the finals of the 100 Breast, Fischer finished 11th (1:01.59) and earned All-America honors. The 800 Free Relay team of Lobdell, Svahnstrom, Younglove and Platzer finished 14th (7:19.48) and earned All-America honors. Junior Heidi Prosser placed 21st in the three-meter diving with a total of 454.50 points.
