Merrick Improves Five Strokes in Sahalee Players Championship

UCLA senior John Merrick improved his score five shots in the second round of the Sahalee Players Championship, hosted by Sahalee Country Club in Sammamish, WA.

Merrick posted an even par round of 72 on Thursday and is tied for 24th place after the halfway point in the tournament. He was just one of 10 players to shoot par or better in the field of 44.

Travis Johnson, tied for sixth place after round one, fell into a tie for 10th after carding a second round 74. Roy Moon posted his second straight 74 and is tied for 19th. Johnson trails the leader - Richard Moir of Australia - by six strokes. Moir is at four-under 140 after a second round of 71.

Low score of the day belonged to Australian Nick Flanagan who fired a seven-under par 65 and moved into a tie for fourth place at 143.

The field will be cut to the Top 20 after Friday's round. The final round is Saturday.
