The seventh-ranked UCLA women's golf team climbed to third place after the first round of the Mason Rudolph Championship, hosted by Vanderbilt at the Legends Club in Franklin, TN.
The Bruins posted a team score of 287 (-1) and trailed second place Duke by four shots. Third-ranked Georgia held the opening round lead at eight-under par 280. Stanford was fourth at 291 (+3), followed by Arizona at 292 (+4).
Sophomore All-American Tiffany Joh posted the Bruins' best score, a three-under par 69. She was tied for first place with two other players. Sophomore Ryann O'Toole was tied for 14th after carding an even par 72. Senior Hannah Jun and freshman Sydnee Michaels were tied for 20th at one-over par 73. Freshman Lalita Boonnoppornkul, playing in her first collegiate event, was tied for 78th place.
