Bruins Tie for Second at MacKenzie Invitational

The UCLA men's golf team tied for second place at the Alister MacKenzie Invitational, hosted by California at the Meadow Club in Fairfax, CA.

High winds elevated the final round scores as no team posted a score under par Tuesday afternoon. The Bruins shot an eight-over par score of 292 for a 54-hole total of 844, 10-under par, which tied Northwestern for second place. Fresno State won the event with a three-round total of 841. Host California placed fourth at 852 and Oregon was fifth at 859.

Individually, junior Roy Moon tied for second place with a 54-hole score of 205 (68-68-69), eight-under par. That score was Moon's best collegiate three-round score and finish. Junior Travis Johnson tied for 17th at 214 and freshman Spencer Levin tied for 19th at 215. Junior Steve Conway tied for 23rd at 216, followed by John Merrick who tied for 37th at 219.

Fresno State All-American Nick Watney won medalist honors with a 54-hole total of 202, 11-under par. Moon tied for second place with two other players.
