UCLA MEN

Field Finals

Discus-the Bruin men picked up six points in the men's discus, with senior Scott Moser placing fourth (five points) and sophomore Dan Ames in eighth-place (one point). Moser's mark was 198-3 and Ames' was 193-1. True freshman Jason Rider also qualified and he placed 17th, with a mark of 176-9. Moser at the last two NCAA Outdoor meets has been the top placing American (he finished third in 2001) and he has now earned All-American honors five times during his Bruin Outdoor and Indoor career, including twice at this meet (11th in the hammer, 202-4, top eight Americans and fourth in the discus). "I'm not sad this is over because I will continue to throw and train at UCLA under Art Venegas," said Moser, who will graduate later this month. "I would have liked to win this event (discus), but I had a good meet here and my head is up. Two years in a row in the discus I have been the top American." Moser ends his Bruin career at No. 3 all-time (206-8) in the discus and No. 5 all-time in the hammer throw (210-11.50). Ames earns All-American honors for the third time in his Bruin career.

Pole Vault-senior C.J. Bell, who placed second in this event at the Pac-10, tied for 11th place, with a vault of 16-10.75.
