Alex Yi Selected To NSCAA All-America Team

Dec. 6, 2001

Men's soccer standout Alex Yi (Easton, Md.) was selected to the NSCAA All-America third team, extending UCLA's streak of having an NSCAA All-American to 19 years.

Yi, a sophomore defender, was a nominee for both the Hermann Trophy and the Missouri Athletic Club Player of the Year Award. He started 22 games for the Bruins in 2001, recording one assist and helping the team shut out nine opponents. Earlier in the year, he earned first-team All-Far West honors and second-team All-Pac-10 acclaim. Yi's Bruins ended the season with a 12-7-4 record and advanced to the NCAA third round.
