Tucson, AZ - At the Pac-10 Multi-Events, hosted by the University of Arizona, senior Chris Staton competed in the decathlon. Staton placed seventh overall, scoring 7,041 points. Oregon freshman Tommy Skipper won the 2004 Pac-10 Decathlon title with 7,589 points.
In the first day of competition, Staton scored 3,590 points. To start things off, he ran 11.29 (w: 0.0, 797 points) in the 100m. He Jumped 22-11.25 (6.99m, 811 points) in the long jump. IN the shot put, he threw 34-2.75 (10.43m, 512 points). Staton cleared 6-3.25 (1.91m, 723 points) in the high jump. And, he ran 51.49 (747 points) in the 400m.
In today's action, Staton ran 15.36 (w: 0.2, 807 points) in the 110m hurdles. In the discus, he threw 143-6 (43.74m, 741 points). In the pole vault, he cleared 14-1.25 (4.30m, 702 points). Staton threw 177-1 (53.99m, 648 points) in the javelin. And, in the final event, he finished the 1500m in 5:01.12 (553 points).
Staton finished seventh overall with 7,041 points and scored two team points for the Bruins.
The Bruins will enter the 2004 Pac-10 Championships with two points. The Championships will begin Friday, May 14, and end Saturday, May 15. Like the Multi-Event competition, the Championships will also be hosted by the University of Arizona.
