UCLA great John Godina competed in the shot put at the World Indoor Championships.
The defending champion and three-time medalist in the event, Godina placed second, with a silver medal mark of 69-8. "It was a little more difficult because the sector is tighter indoors, but it's the same for everybody," Godina said. "It's annoying that I have big throws and keep getting beat by little bits. I am looking forward to outdoors because I need to get revenge on the guys who beat me by small amounts."
Overall, Team USA ended the three-day competition with a record 10 gold medals, tallying 17 overall to top the medal charts. Russia was second with 12 medals, including five bronze. It was the second-best medal performance ever for the Americans at the World Indoors.
