Sophomore Gina Umeck (Redlands, CA/Redlands East Valley HS) of the UCLA Women's Golf Team was selected as the UCLABruins.com Student-Athlete of the Week for the week of May 6-12.
Umeck led UCLA to a first-place tie with Pepperdine at the NCAA West Regional, giving the Bruins the West's No. 1 seed heading into the NCAA Championships. Umeck recorded her fourth Top 10 finish in her last five appearances by finishing seventh with a three-round total of 219, three-over par.
Umeck has been the Bruins' top finisher in five of the 10 tournaments in which she has played. She is averaging 74.1 in her last 14 rounds with three rounds under par and four Top 10 finishes.
This is Umeck's first UCLABruins.com Student-Athlete of the Week honor of the season and her career.
