Five members of the 2003 UCLA football team will be taking part in the NFL Combine, being held in Indianapolis, IN this weekend.
Unanimous All-America defensive end Dave Ball heads the list. Defensive tackles Rodney Leisle, a four-year starter, and Ryan Boschetti who started all 13 games this past season; linebacker Brandon Chillar, the Pac-10's leading tackler; and three-year starting cornerback Matt Ware will also be participating.
Ball tied for the national lead with 16.5 quarterback sacks, a new UCLA record, and was named the Chevrolet National Defensive Player of the Year. Leisle made 40 tackles, including six for losses, while Boschetti made 43 stops, including eight behind the line of scrimmage. Chillar made 133 tackles, the most by a Bruin since 1989, and led the Pac-10 with an average of 10.2 stops per game. Ware, who entered the draft following his junior year, made 34 tackles and two interceptions.
