April 8, 2005

UCLA freshman Daniel Im has been named Pacific-10 Conference Golfer of the Month for March.

Im, a freshman from Fullerton, Calif., won his first collegiate tournament with a victory in the Southern Highlands Collegiate Championship. Im opened the tournament with a round of 66, closed with a 68 and won the tournament in a playoff. Among the players Im beat were No. 1-ranked Ryan Moore of UNLV, the defending U.S. Amateur Champion, No. 2-ranked Spencer Levin of New Mexico, No. 4-ranked Pablo Martin of Oklahoma State and 2003 NCAA champion Alejandro Canizares of Arizona State.

In his other tournament during March, Im placed second in the rain-shortened Western Intercollegiate with rounds of 68 and 70. His stroke average for the month of March was 69.8.

Im also finished eighth at The Pretige in November.

Others nominated for player of the month honors were James Lepp of Washington and Matt Ma of Oregon.
