Women's Soccer Blanks Pepperdine Waves

WESTWOOD, Calif. - Preseason No. 16 UCLA defeated the Pepperdine Waves 3-0 today in the Bruins' second and final exhibition game of the season. The UCLA defense came out strong this afternoon, limiting Pepperdine to only one shot on goal the entire game. Rookie Jessica Winton notched the game's first goal in the 32nd minute off an assist from sophomore Bethany Bogart.

In the 52nd minute of play, Pepperdine registered its first and only shot on goal, but UCLA's CiCi Peterson grabbed the save. Less than a minute later, UCLA sophomore Breana Boling kicked the ball in on an open shot. The Bruins sealed the victory when sophomore Staci Duncan scored in the 69th minute. Duncan was set up by a Venus James tackle, which gave the Bruins possession just outside the penalty box. UCLA heads to Fullerton's Titan Stadium on Sat., August 28 to battle Cal State Fullertan at 4:30 pm.
