WALNUT CREEK, Calif. - UCLA's Chris Lam was named to the All-Pac-10 Academic First-Team, headlining a list of four Bruin players to earn all-academic men's tennis honors Friday.
Lam, a junior from Honolulu, currently has a 3.56 grade point average and is majoring in Business-Economics with a minor in Accounting. He led the Bruins in singles victories this season with 35 and is ranked No. 60 in the country.
Both Tobias Clemens and Luben Pampoulov were named to the second team. Clemens, a senior from Bonn, Germany, owns a 3.32 GPA and is also majoring in Business-Economics. He is currently ranked No. 7 nationally in singles, posting a 33-9 overall record. He has been UCLA's No. 1 the last three seasons. Pampoulov, a junior from Dornbirn, Austria, carries a 3.33 GPA. He is ranked No. 67 in singles and recently captured the Pac-10 Doubles Championship with partner Philipp Gruendler.
Rounding out the list is honorable mention selection Chris Surapol. Surapol, a sophomore from Whittier, teamed with Clemens to make up the Bruins' No. 3 doubles team.
To be eligible for selection to the academic team, a student-athlete must have a minimum 3.0 overall grade-point average and be either a starter or significant contributor.
