Grinda Ousted in NCAA Singles Play.

Athens, GA - UCLA sophomore Jean-Noel Grinda lost his first round singles match at the NCAA Championships, falling 7-6(4), 1-6, 4-6 to Florida's Nathan Overholser. Grinda, the fifth seed in the tournament, finishes with a 28-8 overall singles record in 1999.

Grinda still has another shot at an NCAA title. He and partner Jong-Min Lee, as well as Jason Cook-Brandon Kramer, will compete in the doubles competition, which begins tomorrow. Grinda-Lee, seeded No. 3 will face UNLV's Gregor Skorin-Nenad Zivkovic in the first round. Cook-Kramer, a No. 5-8 seed, will meet Virginia's Huntley Montgomery-Brian Vahaly.
