COLLEGE PARK, Md. - UCLA extended its season-opening winning streak to 11 matches with a sweep of Florida International on Friday evening at the Hilton Garden Inn Greenbelt Invitational hosted by the University of Maryland. Game scores were 30-20, 30-26, 30-26. The Bruins were led by Ali Daley and Nana Meriwether who had 10 kills apiece in the match.
Meriwether had a match-high 14.5 points, adding two solo blocks and five block assists to her kill total. She was involved in seven of the Bruins 13 blocks in the match. Daley also led the team in digs with 10.
UCLA hit an impressive .364 as a team in the opening game of the match and followed with team attack percentages of .242 in the second game and .250 for game three. The Bruins hit .286 to FIU's and held a 33-29 advantage in digs along with a 13-5 difference in blocks.
The Bruins return to action on Saturday with matches against Long Island and host Maryland.
