Palo Alto, Calif. - Eleven former UCLA water polo players from the late 1960s and early 1970s have reunited and will compete in the men's 55+ age group of the FINA Masters World Championships starting on Sunday, Aug. 6.
Three of the former Bruins - Eric Lindroth, Kevin Craig and Andy Keene - played for UCLA in each of the Bruins' first three national championship seasons (1969, 1971 and 1972). Six players - Gregg Arth, Carl Thomas, Robert Ramsey, James Puffer and Doug Roth - played for UCLA in 1969, 1970 and 1971, collecting two national titles. John Rees was a member of back-to-back national title teams in 1971 and 1972. James Ferguson played for UCLA from 1968-70 and was a member of the 1969 national championship team.
The men's 55+ division is comprised of seven teams, including the group of former Bruins. Two of UCLA's conference rivals - California and Stanford - are also fielding teams in the men's 55+ bracket.
