Stone Mountain, GA - The UCLA men's doubles team of Marcin Matkowski and Jean-Julien Rojer won two matches Friday to advance to the semifinals of the ITA Men's All-American Tennis Championships at the Lincoln Tennis Center in Stone Mountain, GA.
Matkowski/Rojer started the day off with an 8-3 victory over Tennessee's Simon Rea/Mario Toledo in the second round. In the quarterfinals they defeated Benjamin Becker/Marcus Hornung of Baylor, 8-3. They will face Stanford's Ryan Haviland/K.J. Hippensteel in Saturday's semifinals.
UCLA's other doubles team of Tobias Clemens/Lassi Ketola defeated seventh-seeded Roger Anderson/David Wright of Georgia Tech, 8-6 in the second round. They couldn't upset top-seeded Scott Lipsky/David Martin of Stanford in the quarters, falling 8-3.
In the back draw, Rojer defeated Stanford's Lpsky, 6-7(6), 6-4, 6-1 in the second round. He will take on Dane McGregor of Tulsa in the third round on Saturday.
