Paige Thompson Automatically Qualifies for NCAA Championships

At the NCAA Zone E Diving Championships, held in Oklahoma City, OK, sophomore Paige Thompson automatically qualified for the NCAA Championships. Thompson placed third on three-meter springboard, scoring 485.00. Arizona freshman Mary Yarrison won the event (496.30) and Arizona State's Trisha Tumlinson was second (486.85).

The top-three finishers on one-meter and three-meter springboard, along with the top-two finishers on platform are automatically qualified to compete at the NCAA Championships.

The rest of the Bruin squad placed in the top-20. Junior Janine Strack was 11th, scoring 4345.40. Sophomore Amanda Blong was 16th (404.25). And, sophomore Sara Clark placed 17th (401.15).

The NCAA Zone E Championships will conclude tomorrow. The NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships, hosted by Texas A&M in College Station, TX, will begin March 18.
