Clemens Named Verizon Academic All-District

LOS ANGELES - UCLA men's tennis player Tobias Clemens was recently selected to the Verizon Academic All-District VIII Men's At-Large Team, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

Clemens, a junior from Bonn, Germany, currently maintains a 3.27 grade point average and is majoring in business economics. It is the first such honor for Clemens, who was also a Pac-10 All-Academic selection in 2002.

In order to be eligible for Academic All-District honors, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.20 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale), must be a starter or important reserve and be in at least their second season at their current school. District VIII includes schools in the states of Alaska, Arizona, California, Hawaii, Idaho, Nevada, Oregon, Utah, Washington and British Columbia. The at-large category includes student-athletes in the following men's sports: fencing, golf, gymnastics, hockey, lacrosse, rifle, skiing, swimming, tennis, volleyball, water polo and wrestling.
