WOODLAND, Calif. - UCLA sophomore center forward Kristina Kunkel has been named MPSF Player of the Week for her play at the Gaucho Invitational Tournament at Santa Barbara last weekend (February 28-29). Kunkel scored ten goals at the tournament, including a school record tying six goals against Hawaii. Last season Natalie Golda set the UCLA record for goals in a game with six against LMU.
Kunkel scored at least one goal in each of the Bruins four games, including two goals in UCLA's 9-7 victory over Long Beach State in the third place game.
This is the first time a UCLA player has been selected MPSF Player of the Week for the 2004 season. The Bruins return to action this weekend for MPSF games against California on Saturday March 6 and Pacific on Sunday March 7. Both games will be played at Sunset Canyon Recreation Center.
